SBŠ Ostrava show heart, Polonia Warszawa off to a winning start

SBŠ Ostrava erased an 18 points deficit and stayed in the race until the last minute to fall at the hands of victorious Polonia Warszawa, 73-80, on Saturday, November 25, at the Hala Ostravská univerzita in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

Zada Williams led the winners with 15 points.


A former Florida Gator sparked Polonia offense with 11 points in the first half.

Center grabbed a team high six rebounds and shared the ball enrouto to three assists.

Martyna Leszczynska provided a spark off bench, scoring 11 points in 14 minutes.


Power forward forced four fouls and went a perfect 6/6 from the free throw line.

Kayla Wells showed her versatility, making shots from every position.


Texas A&M standout scored 10 of her 13 points in the second half.

Anna Pawlowska and Marta Maslowska also finished in double figures.


SBŠ Ostrava starters shined in the second half.

Adéla Smutná led all scorers with 24 points on 8/16 shooting from the field and 4/5 from the charity stripe.

She rarely missed a shot after the break.

Tereza Motyčakova focused on defense during the first 20 minutes.

Point guard regrouped in the second half to finish with 10 points and a game high nine assists.


Hannah Ariel Little (Oakland 2017) had nine points and nine rebounds.

Kayla Wells opened the second half with four consecutive points to extend Polonia lead up to 18 points, 27-45.

SBŠ Ostrava starters fought back, as they scored 40 of their 57 points in the second half.


Tereza Motyčakova rallied her teammates for a 20-5 run to cut the gap to three points, 47-50, with 12:37 left to play.


Five consecutive points by Martyna Leszczynska renewed an eight point lead for the Polish team, 53-61.


Anna Pawlowska regained a double digit lead, 53-63, but SBŠ Ostrava wasn`t done yet.

Two consecutive three pointers by Smutná and Motyčakova made it a single possession game again, 63-66.


Finally, a three pointer by Anna Pawlowska sealed the game for Polonia Warszawa, 69-76.

Polonia Warszawa played its tenth game at the EWBL and improved to 9-1 all time record.


Playcaller Jerome Fournier posted his first win in the league.
