Keys, Leszczynska and Sosnowska make it happen for Polonia Warszawa

Polonia Warszawa went on a 19-0 run late in the third quarter and early in the fourth quarter to post a 76-60 win over tenacious SBŠ Ostrava on Saturday, December 10, at the Daugava Sports hall in Rīga, Latvia.

Andreona Keys scored seven of her 19 points during Polonia`s big run.

Purdue star grabbed six offensive rebounds enroute to double-double.

Keys finished with 19 points, 12 rebounds and four assists for a game high efficiency rating of 22.

Angeliki Vintsilaiou showed her skills in offense and forced a team high five fouls.


Greek international had 16 points, including a 4-of-4 from the free throw line.



Jessica Jackson also finished in double figures.

Arkansas Razorback contributed with 12 points and five rebounds.

European 3x3 championship bronze medalist Klaudia Sosnowska added 11 points.


Martyna Leszczynska scored all eight of her points in the last 10:01 minutes.


Adela Smutna led SBŠ Ostrava with 17 points.


She also grabbed seven rebounds and forced a game high six fouls.

Eliška Kubičkova had 13 points and five rebounds.



Key stats

SBŠ Ostrava led by as much as eight points and remained ahead until the last minutes of the third quarter.


Adela Smutna was effective in the paint, while Eliška Kubičkova added some three pointers.


Ostrava coach Iveta Raškova relied on seven player rotation after Megan Mullings was injured a couple of weeks ago.

Meanwhile, Polonia Warszawa had a nine player rotation and found their go-to players from the bench.


Klaudia Sosnowska and Martyna Leszczynska combined for 12 points during the last 11 minutes.


Both played crucial roles in Polonia`s 19-0 run to extend their lead up to 19 points 66-47.



Game notes

Polonia Warszawa improved to 4-0.


Maciej Gordon`s team currently has more wins in the EWBL than in the highly competitive Energa Basket Liga Kobiet.


Polonia Warszawa is tied at the sixth place together with Poznan, Wroclaw and Torun.


SBŠ Ostrava had an excellent start in the Chance ŽBL – six wins in 10 games.


Unfortunately, they lost Megan Mullings due to serious injury.


EWBL wishes a speedy recovery for Megan.
