Nyon Basket Feminin advanced to the 2025 European Women`s Basketball league`s final against SBŠ Ostrava, after Polonia Warszawa decided to not travel to Switzerland for their away match on Wednesday, February 19.
Polonia Warszawa president Łukasz Tusiński sent an official letter to the European Women`s Basketball league last week and informed about their decision to cancel a trip to Switzerland due to the following reasons
Polonia Warszawa decision to continue their 3x3 Polish league title defense with the games scheduled on February 19-22,
additional travel bureaucracy for club`s American players due to traveling outside the European Union and Schengen area.
European Women`s Basketball league awards a forfeit and a 0-20 loss to Polonia Warszawa for failing to appear at the February 19 away match in Switzerland.
Polonia Warszawa receive zero (0) points for their forfeited match, while Nyon Basket receive two points, according to the FIBA regulations for European club competitions.
SBŠ Ostrava has 11 points, followed by Nyon Basket with 10 points, Polonia Warszawa with eight (8) points and Frankivsk Prykarpattya with six points.
No additional sanctions were awarded.
