Welcome, BC Prometey!

Basketball club Prometey from Kamianske, Ukraine, has applied to play in the European Women`s basketball league.

Sports club Prometey was founded in September 2018. Initially it fielded men`s basketball and volleyball teams, while women`s basketball team was added in 2020.

Prometey has received support from Kamianske`s mayor Andriy Bilousov and president of the Ukraine`s basketball federation Mikhailo Brodskiy.

Viktoria Bolshakova took the coaching reins of the newly founded women`s team. She is one of the best known women`s basketball coaches in Ukraine – also the former coach of Elisavet Basket, Dnipro and Kozachka Zaporizhye.

Bolshakova will be assisted by Artem Chemiakin. Last season he worked in the People`s Republic of China, coaching women`s team Kaifeng City. He has played in Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Hong Kong.

Coaching staff includes experienced strength and conditioning coach Vladimir Kucherenko. He has worked with various men`s teams, including “Cantu” in Italy and “Red October Volgograd” in Russia.

Five “Prometey” players were invited to the Ukraine National team training camp, including Ulyana Datsko, Daryna Dubrovska, Veronika Liubinets, Yulia Musienko and Vita Horobets.

The club has added some Ukrainian players with wide international experience like point guard Olga Dubrovina and forward Oksana Mollova.

Horobets, Liubinets and another well known Ukrainian player – Viktoria Kondus – last season won the Ukrainian championship with Kyiv Basket.

“Prometey” has signed American forward Ke`Shunan James. Tennessee native graduated the South Side high school and became the leader of Murray State (2014-2018). Led Ohio Valley conference (OVC) in scoring and was named in the first team of the league.

The club entered the EuroCup Women too. “Prometey” was drawn in a group with Hungarian teams “KSC Szekszard”, “Uni Gyor” and a Turkish club “Kayseri Basketbol”.
