Trinity Baptiste leads the charge, Samara top Group A

BC Samara turned the ball over just six times and prevailed over Kibirkštis MRU 72-56 to seal the first place in Group A on Wednesday, January 12, at the Mykolas Romeris university in Vilnius, Lithuania.

Trinity Baptiste led the winners with 16 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field.

Arizona standout grabbed seven rebounds and dished out three assists for a game high efficiency rating of 22.

Saicha Grant-Allen posted a double-double, finishing the game with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Anna Zaitseva had 12 rebounds in another all around performance.

Forward added six points, two assists and two steals.

Jennifer O`Neill also finished in double figures. She had 10 points.

Gabriele Sulske had an excellent shooting night.

Kibirkštis MRU guard scored 19 points on 7-of-11 accuracy from the field.

Sulske completed the stat line with four boards, three assists and one steal for a efficiency rating of 18.

Livija Sakevičiūte contributed with 10 points and five rebounds.

Camille Droguet had eight points.

Key stats

Samara won the opening frame 24-14 and increased its lead up to 17 points at the halfway line 43-26.

Dmitry Donskov`s team took care of the ball and registerd just six turnovers, compared to 14 turnovers for the Sparks.

Samara won the battle of rebounds 41-35 and scored more second chance points 12-6.

The winners had more points off turnovers 16-4.

Game notes

Samara secured the first place in Group A.

Russian Premier League team has an advantage against Žabiny Brno, thanks to a 84-75 win.

Kibirkštis will finish in the third or the fourth place depending on the outcome of the game between Žabiny Brno and Pieštanske Čajky.

Čajky may move up to the second position with a win by 12 or more points.

The Slovak team may also miss the playoffs if they lose at Brno.
