SBŠ Ostrava, welcome to the playoffs!

The playoffs are set. SBŠ Ostrava withstood a comeback by Grodno Olimpia, posted a 64-61 win and booked the last ticket to the playoffs on Sunday, January 19, at Mykolas Romeris University in Vilnius, Lithuania.


Players of the game

Nevena Markovič scored 18 points for the winners, including four points in the end of regulation. Serbian international added nine rebounds, two assists and one steal for a efficiency rating of 23.

Saturday`s hero Sara Dickey also had 18 points. Indiana native and University of Evansville graduate (2013-2017) grabbed two rebounds, stole the ball twice and blocked one shot.

Shelby Cloninger (Alaska Anchorage 2018) contributed with 11 points and eight rebounds.

Ivana Grbič chipped in with 10 points, five rebounds and a game high seven assists.


Key stats

SBŠ Ostrava outrebounded Grodno 38-30 (offensive rebounds 12-7) and scored more second chance points (11-2).

Ostrava starters outscored Olimpia 59-22.

The Czech team led by 16 points but Grodno returned into the game.

Young guns Aryna Masko and Yuliya Vasilevich scored 10 points in the last four minutes to cut the gap to a single point 62-61 with 1:14 left.

Nevena Markovič replied with a jumper in the next possession 64-61 with 0:58 left. Katsiaryna Karpuk and Vasilevich had chances to send the game into overtime but missed.

The playoffs are next.
