Samara shoot the lights out in a debut win over Žabiny Brno

What a debut! Trinity Baptiste, Daria Kurilchuk and Jennifer O`Neill combined for a 65 points to lift BC Samara over Žabiny Brno 84-75 on Tuesday, December 7, at the Diplomat Arena in Pieštany, Slovakia.

Trinity Baptiste had a huge second half. She scored 18 of her 24 points after the break to register a 8-of-14 accuracy from the field and a perfect 6-of-6 from the charity stripe.

Baptiste, a 2021 NCAA championship finalist with Arizona Wildcats, grabbed five rebounds and and stole the ball twice for a game high efficiency rating of 26.

Daria Kurilchuk made 7-of-9 field goal attempts, including a 4-of-6 salvo from the three point line.

Kurilchuk dished out five assists, turned the ball over eight times and forced four fouls for a efficiency rating of 17.

Holmes Baptiste

Jennifer O`Neill was huge from the three point land, too. Kentucky standout – and another Wildcat – made 4-of-10 three pointers enroute to 18 points.

O`Neill debuted in Tokyo Olympics this summer and was the second leading scorer for Puerto Rico team. She averaged 11,3 points and 1,7 assists in three games.

Anna Zaitseva also put up some impressive numbers. A former Rostov on Don top scorer had nine points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field.

Zaitseva grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out three assists.

See you, country roads! Bria Holmes led Žabiny Brno with a game high 25 points.

West Virginia standout made 9-of-14 field goal attempts and had a 6-of-10 performance from the free throw line.

Red haired Holmes added four rebounds, three assists and three steals for a efficiency rating of 24.

Petra Zaplatova scored 16 of her 18 points in the second half.

Point guard dished out three assists and turned the ball over six times for a effieciency rating of 11.

Anna Jurčenkova also stepped up in the second half. Slovak center finished the game with four points, six rebounds and five assists.

Jurčenkova was fouled out late in the game, just like Eliška Hamzova. A guard scored 10 points.

Key stats

Dmitry Donskov relied on a seven player rotation throughout the game but his starters scored 76 points.

Samara shoot the lights out to register the eye appealing numbers, fit for a 50-40-90 club.

The newcomers shot 62 percent inside (20/32) and 41 percent outside (10/24) the three point line as well as 93 percent (14/15) from the free throw line.

Meanwhile, Žabiny Brno struggled from downtown (3/13), especially in the first half (0/7 from the three point line).

The Frogs were really aggressive and got to the line often but their 22-of-28 accuracy from charity stripe wasn`t enough this time.

Žabiny Brno also forced 18 turnovers and scored 28 points off turnovers.

Samara extended its winning streak to four games, including Russian Premier league.

Dmitry Donskov`s team won at Peresvet SFEDU and Spartak Noginsk, before posting the firsh home win over Enisey Krasnoyarsk on December 4.
