Panthers make a roaring comeback, Oleynikova and Zaitseva score 17 points in the clutch time

Rostov Don SFEDU erased a 13 point second half deficit and outscored Lulea Basket in the final 10 minutes to post a 82-74 win on Sunday, February 10, at Rostov on Don. Second game is scheduled on February 21 at Lulea.


Players of the game

Eleonora Oleynikova scored nine points in the fourth quarter to spark a 27-7 run for the hosts. Oleynikova had 23 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the field.

Anna Zaitseva added eight points in the last frame to finish the game with 20 points. She grabbed seven offensive rebouds and collected 10 rebounds in total.

Zaitseva filled the stat sheet, as she stole the ball three times, dished two assists and forced seven fouls for a tied game high efficiency rating of 22.

Alexandra Kirina had eight points and six rebounds, while Anastasiia Maksimova chipped in five points, six rebounds and five assists.

Five Lulea players scored in double figures. Precious Hall led the way with 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field.

Chioma Nnamaka followed with 15 points. Kristina Alminaite had 12 points, five rebounds and four blocked shots.

Anna Barthold and Michaela Houser scored 10 points each.


Key stats

Six different players scored for the Panthers in the fourth quarter. The hosts were down by 12 points 55-67 with 08:47 left.

Anna Zaitseva tied the game at 71 with 03:26 minutes to go.

Oleynikova and Zaitseva combined for 17 points during the decisive run.

Rostov Don SFEDU outrebounded the Swedish champions 51-35, including a brilliant 29-7 effort on the offensive end.

The Panthers had 25 more shooting attempts (30/86 vs 32/61) and scored more second chance points (28-12).

The hosts turned the ball over just 10 times, compared to 21 turnovers for the visiting side.

Rostov Don SFEDU players and their mascot finished the game with a Panther Clap. What a game!
