Moscow and Beirut welcome the quarterfinals

The playoffs are here! Our first quarterfinal pair features two great teams from Russia and Lebanon. Dynamo Moscow will host Al Riyadi Beirut on Thursday, February 8.

Road to the play-offs
Dynamo Moscow lost the first two games against TTT Riga (52:77) and Udominate Basket (69:71). The Blue-Whites fought back and registered four consecutive wins over Pieštanske Čajky (86:84), Astana Tigers (82:53), Tsmoki Minsk (81:68) and Hoptrans Sirenos (81:55) to take the third place in Group B.

Al Riyadi Beirut also experienced a tough start, dropping the first encounter against Kibirkštis Vilnius – 67:69. The Lebanese posted three wins afterwards, by beating Liepājas Papīrs (72:62), Horizont Minsk (72:62) and Lulea Basket (90:67). Al Riyadi suffered a setback at Košice (64:71) and then routed FSG Royal Eagles (94:40) to finish second in Group A.

Domestic competitions
Dynamo Moscow won the Premier league road game at Novosibirsk (73:64) and improved to 4-9 (ninth place). Novosibirsk has played one more game and is in the eight place with a 5-9 record. If those two teams will finish with the same record, Moscow will advance to the playoffs.

Al Riyadi finished the WLBL regular season with a 7-3 record to qualify for the Final Four. Homentmen (10-0) is leading the league, followed by Al Riyadi, Antranik Beirut (7-3) and Hoops (4-6). Al Riyadi last against Hoops (66:69) before flying to Moscow.

The leaders

Albina Razheva is the most valuable player of Dynamo Moscow. Twenty three year old forward had four consecutive 20+ point games during the regular season. She scored 30 points and grabbed eight rebounds against Udominate Basket.

Razheva averaged 16,7 points per game, while Viktoriia Medvedeva, Lindsay Allen and Kelsey Lang scored at least 9,0 points each. Lang is the leading rebounder (7,4 rebounds).

Roneeka Hodges is the best scorer of the regular season. Al Riyadi veteran scored 148 points in seven games and averaged 21,14 points. She posted 32 points in a win over Lulea Basket and dished at least three assists in every game.

Kayli Sartori and Shanece McKinny also finished in double figures, averaging 11,6 and 11,1 points respectively. Brittany Denson, Adriane Ross and Lama Moukaddem – you can go on and on, Al Riyadi has a lot of good scorers.
