
Kitija Laksa, Ilze Jākobsone and Jessica Thomas combined for a 11-of-17 shooting from the three point land as TTT Rīga (1-0) delivered first loss to previously undefeated Horizont Minsk 80-72 on Wednesday, January 13, 2021.

Kitija Laksa scored eight early points to engineer a 10-2 run. South Florida graduate added three more three pointers to finish the game with 21 points.
Laksa connected 5-of-8 three pointers, including the fifth one with 02:34 minutes left.
Ilze Jākobsone added 12 points on 3-of-3 shooting from the downtown. Her most important shot was registered 04:01 minutes before the end of regulation and restored a nine point lead.
Jessica Thomas also hit a huge three pointer with 02:59 to go. Miami standout scored 11 points and was fouled out late in the game.
Binta Drammeh posted six of her eight points in the second half, while Megan Huff grabbed five offensive rebounds.
Adrienne Webb replied with 17 points. Louisiana State University graduate scored 10 points in the second quarter and made some great plays early in the fourth quarter.
Irena Vrančic registered 14 points, including 9-of-9 from the free throw line. Horizont newcomer dished out four assists.
Yuliya Rytsikava and Viktoryia Hasped scored 11 points each.
Anastasiya Verameyenka had impressive stat line – eight points, seven rebounds, four assists and three blocked shots for a efficiency rating of 15.
Key stats
TTT players connected 11-of-18 field goals in the first quarter, including 5-of-6 three pointers, to build a 30-10 lead.
Latvia champions outrebounded the hosts 40-29 (offensive rebounds 22-9) and scored more second chance points (23-11).
Horizont cut the gap to six points but TTT replied with three three-pointers in a span of 90 seconds to regain a 77-64 lead.
Andris Steļmahs replaced Riga`s head coach Mārtiņš Gulbis and earned his first win in tournament.
TTT registered a 43% accuracy from the three point line (13/30) compared to 25% for Horizont (6/24).
Horizont had a 13-0 record in Belarus league and a 2-0 in EWBL before the game, however, suffered the first defeat.
TTT played first game since December 4, 2020.
