January unstoppable, Pieštanske Čajky win at Rostov on Don

Pieštanske Čajky showed amazing shooting from the three point line to beat Rostov Don SFEDU 77-70 on Wednesday, February 26, at the Center of team sports in Rostov on Don, Russia. The second game will take place on Saturday, February 29, at the Diplomat Arena in Pieštany.

 

Players of the game

Jessica January posted amazing stat line – 29 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, three steals and efficiency rating of 37.

Pieštany guard scored 13 points in the first half to secure a seven point lead at half, 45-39. January impressed even more after the break – she had 16 points and six rebounds.

Terezia Palenikova provided spark from the bench – she scored 15 points, including 3-of-4 shooting from the three point line.

Danielle Hamilton Carter contributed with nine points and eight rebounds.

There were three more great performances to make it a team win. Experienced Katarina Kuniecova posted eight points, six rebounds and five assists.

Captain Dominika Deptova chipped in with seven points and seven assists, while Jessica Lubin had seven points and nine rebounds.

Brilliant Anna Zaitseva led Rostov Don SFEDU with 20 points, seven rebounds and six assists.

Irina Miroshnikova scored 60 percent of team`s three point shots. She had 17 points, including 3-of-4 shooting behind the arc.

Finally, Ekaterina Osipova posted 10 points and eight rebounds.

 

Key stats

Pieštanske Čajky outscored the hosts from the three point line (11/18 vs 5/15).

The Slovak team set some good traps and scored more points off turnovers (15-4).

Dmitry Fedoseev`s team replied with a good transition game and scored 18 points on fast breaks but didn`t stopped the well organized Čajky offense.

The Čajky turned the ball over just 11 times and led by as much as 14 points.

Pieštanske Čajky may lose by six points at home to qualify for the Final Four. Rostov Don SFEDU need to win by eight points on the road.
