Horizont Minsk has striked the most impressive offseason deal, by adding Belarus power forward Anastasiya Verameyenka (192cm/10.07.1987).
The most decorated Belarus national team player was born in Kohtla Jarve, Estonia. It happened due to the fact that her family`s native city – Gomel – was affected by Chernobyl-Pripyat nuclear accident on April 26, 1986.
Verameyenka started her career at RGUOR Minsk (2001-2005) but later moved to play professionally abroad. Unlike most basketball players, she has represented only two clubs – Orenburg Nadezhda (2005-2012) and Fenerbahce Istanbul (2012-2014 and 2015-2019).
She is among few players with quadruple-double under her belt. She registered 21 points, 10 rebounds, 10 steals and 12 blocked shots at the European U16 championship game against Czech Republic.
Verameyenka conquered bronze medal at the EuroBasket Women 2007. She led her country to the new heights – Belarus debuted at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and the 2010 Women`s World Cup in Czech Republic.
Verameyenka is a three time EuroLeague Women finalist (2013, 2014, 2017). She has been named as the Player of the Year numerous times (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2012, 2013).
Verameyenka has been married since 2014. She has a daughter.
