Fokke on fire, Orange Lions finish perfect at Liepāja stage

Orange Lions maintained their perfect record with a 73-58 victory over Liepāja/LSSS on Friday, October 4, at Liepāja Olympic Center. One and a half months later both teams will travel to the Komi Republic in northern Russia.

Players of the game

Esther Fokke had the hot hand from the three point line, connecting 5-of-11 attempts. She finished the game with 17 points, nine rebounds and three assists for a efficiency rating of 22.

Charlotte Van Kleef also earned double figure and scored 12 points.

Mia Hordijk dished 11 assists. Point guard added four points and five rebounds.

Megan Rosenbohm scored 16 points for the hosts. Līna Loceniece and Rūta Veidere had 13 and 11 points respectively.


Key stats

Orange Lions bench outscored their opponents 29-12, including 22-2 in the first half.

The Dutch team continued shooting spree and connected 13-of-34 three point shots, compared to 5-of-17 for Liepāja.

Liepāja/LSSS won the first quarter 18-16 thanks by Rosenbohm and Loceniece. Guard duo combined for a 12 points in the opening frame.

The hosts played without players like Kristīna Petermane, Katrīna Trankale, Ketija Vihmane and Elvija Veršele. Orange Lions missed two shooters – Ilse Kuijt and Kiki Fleuren.

Orange Lions improved to 3-0, while Liepāja dropped to 1-2.
